During the summer of 1970, the Union Saint-Jean-Baptiste made the final payment on its pledge of to fund the construction of the La Maison Française building. That building was now debt free. To mark the occasion, the ritual burning of the mortgage was held at the entrance of the building.

From September 6-12, Assumption held the first-ever Founders Week, A weeklong observance and celebration of the mission of the Augustinians of Assumption who founded and sponsor the institution. Following a nationwide search, President Francesco Cesareo appointed Robert Mirabile as vice president of Enrollment Management. He spent four years at Beloit College as the vice president of enrollment, where he amassed a number of impressive accomplishments and a year after he began at Beloit, the largest first-year class was welcomed.

Responding to Market Demand, Assumption Announces Nursing Degree Program

Assumption has received Initial Approval Status from the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing and the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE) for a new direct-admission Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) that will prepare students to practice high-quality, patient-centered professional nursing care.
