Assumption President Francesco C. Cesareo, Ph.D., recently announced that Christian Göbel, Ph.D., associate professor of philosophy and director of the Ecumenical Institute, has been appointed the next occupant of the d’Alzon Chair for the 2019–20 academic year. Read more about his new role.
Eric Drouart, professor of practice in management, and Samantha Goldman, assistant professor of special education, have been named Fulbright Specialists by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and World Learning. Specialists are selected to join the roster based on skills to make contributions to overseas projects.
Assumption has begun construction on a new 41,000 square-foot Health Sciences building that will welcome students in fall 2020. The new building will feature four classrooms, and a large tiered classroom. The classrooms are not all exclusively for the nursing and physician assistant programs, but rather for all academic programs.
The Crown and Shield Award is a tradition at Assumption, celebrated since 1952, established as a result of students appealing to the administration to develop a recognition for outstanding seniors. A select number of students were honored with the award during a luncheon with their families and institution administrators.
