Francis McKone, 85, passed away on September 13. Throughout his life, he was a passionate advocate for education, serving on and for many boards and organizations, including the Assumption Board of Trustees from 2006–09. McKone was the former president, CEO, and chairman of the board of Albany International Corp., the world’s largest producer of paper machine clothing and high-performance industrial products. He joined the company in 1964, retired in 2001, and remained on their board until 2006. He served his country as an officer in the United States Navy from 1957–60 and received his B.S. from the University of Massachusetts Lowell and his M.S. from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
