Fall 2019 Sports Highlights

Highlights from the Fall 2019 season included the best season in Men’s Soccer program history, winning the Northeast-10 Championship as the fifth seed and competed into the second round of the NCAA Tournament. And Men’s Golf capped off its best fall season in history by winning its first-ever Northeast-10 Championship.

But with faith and determination, several former Greyhounds Zach Triner ’15 (Tampa Bay Buccaneers), Deonte Harris (New Orleans Saints), and Scott Simonson (Carolina Panthers, New York Giants) are making their marks on the gridiron.

Alumnus on the Forefront of Worcester’s Biotech Innovation

Jon Weaver ’06, G’16 chose Assumption for its top liberal arts education and discovered a passion for creating value in both companies and the community. In 2019, Weaver was named CEO of the Worcester biotechnology incubator MassachusettsBiomedical Initiatives (MBI), and within a year oversaw a project doubling MBI’s laboratory space.

A Lifetime of Serving Others

After dedicating her career to serving others, Sr. Cathleen Toomey, R.S.M. G’69 retired in December 2018, but not before leaving a significant impact on the Assumption and Worcester communities. She credits her Assumption education for giving her the strength and skills needed to serve others during her years of ministry.
