Reverend Camillus Thibault, A.A., 90, passed away on April 18. Fr. Camillus, a graduate of Assumption Prep and College, completed theological studies in Quebec and France before earning a master’s degree from Fordham University. He later completed his studies at the Georgetown Language Institute.
Fr. Camillus professed his first vows on September 8, 1950, in Quebec and was ordained to the priest- hood on March 17, 1956, in France by Bishop Andre-Gustave-Emile Leclerc. He was first assigned to teach at the former Assumption Preparatory School before serving at Our Lady of Esperanza and Our Lady of Guadalupe churches and as vice-rector of Our Lady of Lourdes Minor Seminary in Cassadaga, NY, where he taught French. Fr. Camillus returned to Assumption in 1967, where he was a professor for the next five years. He then became the pastor of Emperatriz Church and at Casa Manuel, both in Mexico, from 1978 to 2005, where he was the superior of the community and involved in the formation of young religious. He then served at Saint Anne’s Church in Sturbridge before moving back to Worcester.
